Designing Your Modular Home
Building off-site in a controlled environment using the modular construction methodology provides many inherent green advantages over conventional construction. It does this by minimizing disturbance to the site, reducing vehicular traffic, and lowering the construction costs of modular homes. Building in a controlled environment means virtually no weather delays. Materials are ordered, received and safely stored in a dry warehouse so replacement due to weather damage or loss is eliminated. It also means that while your home is being constructed in the factory, that site development is occurring simultaneously, significantly shortening the completion time. Modules are “shrink-wrapped” at the factory to protect your home while being transported to your home site.
Structurally, modular homes have to be built much stronger than traditional homes. This is because each module must be engineered to independently tolerate the rigors of transportation to your job site and then being raised with straps by a crane and placed onto your foundation. Once together and with connections completed, the modules become one integrated wall, floor and roof assembly. Some complicated finishes require completion onsite and are scheduled for done quickly after the installation of the modules on the foundation. You should expect to be moving into your new home in as little as 4-6 weeks after delivery of your home to your job site.
Modular Homes are Custom Homes
When building a custom home you need to feel comfortable that your new home will be healthy for your family and designed for your lifestyle. You need to start with a house plan that supports how you want to live. You expect a custom home to be exactly that, custom. You want to make changes to floorplans, materials, and elevations. We use the design flexibility of modular construction to build your custom home using our plans, or you have the option to bring us your custom plan and have us “modularize” and build it.
Many years ago we determined that building outside just wasn’t the way we wanted to build our custom homes for our customers. We knew there was a better way – it was modular construction. As a custom home builder it was getting more difficult to realize the level of quality and consistency that we demanded of ourselves for our customers. Building a custom home outdoors in the weather and attempting to do it with a declining pool of skilled craftsmen was a daily challenge. To be a thriving custom home builder today demands the use of modern building techniques. This means we now have the Modular Advantage in our corner and we share it with our customers every day!
Energy Efficient By Design
Today’s homebuyer expects energy efficiency. Impresa Modular prides itself in producing the most energy efficient home possible. Currently an Energy Star partner, Impresa Modular offers many features as standard that meets or exceeds current Energy Star, LEED, and Green Building Standards. Impresa Modular allows you, the customer, the choice to enhance any of our modular homes to meet the requirements for the program of your choosing. If it’s an optional Energy Star Certified home you require, Impresa Modular will engage a third party Energy Star rater to guarantee your new home meets or exceeds the present requirements mandated by Energy Star.
Modern modular construction means less homeowner headaches. Indoor construction in a controlled environment means exterior finishes are completed last, instead of first. We can build your new home from the inside out, the opposite of conventional outdoor construction. What this means to you is that the building envelope of your new home can be constructed to be super energy efficient. This just comes standard with modular homes and their construction process. Increased insulation, better sealants, and the use of advanced materials are just a few of the reasons to adopt the worry-free benefits of modular construction for your new home.
