Designing Your Modular Home
Building off-site in a controlled environment using the modular construction methodology provides many inherent green advantages over conventional construction. It does this by minimizing disturbance to the site, reducing vehicular traffic, and lowering the construction costs of modular homes. Building in a controlled environment means virtually no weather delays. Materials are ordered, received and safely stored in a dry warehouse so replacement due to weather damage or loss is eliminated. It also means that while your home is being constructed in the factory, that site development is occurring simultaneously, significantly shortening the completion time. Modules are “shrink-wrapped” at the factory to protect your home while being transported to your home site.
Structurally, modular homes have to be built much stronger than traditional homes. This is because each module must be engineered to independently withstand the rigors of transportation to your job site and then being lifted with straps by a crane and placed onto your foundation. Once together and with connections completed, the modules become one integrated wall, floor and roof assembly. Some complex finishes require completion onsite and are scheduled for done quickly after the installation of the modules on the foundation. You should expect to be moving into your new home in as little as 4-6 weeks after delivery of your home to your job site.
Modular Homes are Custom Homes
There is a difference between a customized home and a custom home. Some builders say they build custom homes but what they really mean is that you can choose one of their limited home plan offerings and move/remove a wall, or select an optional kitchen or bath layout. That isn’t a custom home. A true custom home begins by defining your style, how you live, and how you want your home to support you. Some of our prospective customers start with one of our standard home plans and then customize it to their specific needs. Others find a custom home plan from our house plan partner’s website, Architectural Designs, and then we “modularize” it and build their new custom home.
A good custom home builder is an advocate for the homeowner. The home builder has to work with architects, designers, subcontractors, inspectors, and the homeowner themselves. Impresa Modular is the most experienced and knowledgeable custom home builder in the country that exclusively uses modern modular construction to deliver our custom homes to our customers. We want to start to work with you as soon as possible in the process of building your new custom home. We believe that the sooner we get involved and start helping you in the building process, the better chance we have of helping you to create a better design and to possibly do it in such a way that can save you money. We want to give you the full value that modular construction has to offer!
Energy Efficiency
Today’s homebuyer demands energy efficiency. Impresa Modular prides itself in building the most energy efficient home possible. Currently an Energy Star partner, Impresa Modular offers many features as standard that meets or exceeds current Energy Star, LEED, and Green Building Standards. Impresa Modular allows you, the customer, the option to custom tailor any of our modular homes to meet the requirements for the program of your choosing. If it’s an optional Energy Star Certified home you require, Impresa Modular will team up with a third party Energy Star rater to guarantee your new home meets or exceeds the current requirements mandated by Energy Star.
Modern modular construction means less homeowner headaches. Indoor construction in a controlled environment means exterior finishes are completed last, instead of first. We can build your new home from the inside out, the opposite of conventional outdoor construction. What this means to you is that the building envelope of your new home can be constructed to be super energy efficient. This just comes standard with modular homes and their construction process. Increased insulation, better sealants, and the use of advanced materials are just a few of the reasons to adopt the worry-free benefits of modular construction for your new home.
