What’s in a Modern Modular Home?

When researching modular homes many people today are pleasantly surprised. They really didn’t know what to expect when they started. You may have started your research on the recommendation of a friend or saw Impresa Modular on a DIY or HGTV show series. Whatever the case, you are evaluating modular construction to build your new home. At its core, a modular home is a stick built home that was built off site. It was built in an environmentally controlled factory using the latest in building technology. To be delivered to your site it had to be divided into sections or segments called modules. These modules where then placed on carriers and delivered by truck to your home site.

Once the modules arrive at your home site they are unpackaged and lifted by a crane to gently set on your foundation. There the attachments are completed and the point at which the modules meet are completed and the utilities are connected. Everything else was completed in the factory. This means that high end kitchens, beautiful tile bathrooms, large open spaces, multiple roof designs, and creative floor layouts are all achievable using the flexibility of modular home design. We can build your home in Vermont in almost any style. This means we can build a cabin on the White River, a ski chalet with a view of the slopes at Okemo Mountain, a log cabin overlooking Silver Lake, or anything in between. Modern modular homes let you chose your design knowing that your new custom home will be beautiful and well built.

Modular Homes are Green Building

Modular construction is really green by design. It is inherent in the building method. Think about the last time you drove by a new home construction site. Do you remember seeing the 30 cubic yard dumpster setting outside of the home? Have you ever taken the time to think that the homeowner was paying to have that container hauled to a landfill to dispose of all of that waste? Now, did you take an additional moment to think that the homeowner actually paid for all the material that was inside the container to begin with? Site construction is just naturally wasteful. This is just one example of how modular homes and their efficiencies of planning and reuse serve green building methods. In fact, several green building certification programs automatically award points for using modular construction because of its characteristics.
