Modular Homes – Perfect for Montana

Modular homes can be described as: precision construction, green building, energy efficient, flexible design, and high quality. In a harsh climate the advantages of modular construction stand out. Modular construction is the process of taking a home’s plan and dividing it up into pieces or sections called modules. Each one of these sections are small enough that they can be built in a factory and transported by carrier to your home site. Because each section is built in a factory, your home gets the same advantages of precision and quality that you have come to expect from every item you purchase that is built in a factory. Each of your homes modules are built to a level of approximately 70-80% completion in the factory. Skilled craftsmen enjoy working in one location under roof and can do a much better job on your home.

Once completed in the factory, your homes modules are packaged and transported to your home site. Each of the modules are then lifted by a crane and gently placed on your foundation. Within a day, your home is assembled and under roof. After attachments to the foundation and the other modules are complete, your home is much stronger than any home that could have been built onsite. It is also much more energy efficient because of the factory precision used in its construction. Waste on a typical jobsite means that two or three 30 cubic yard dumpsters are disposed of in a nearby landfill. Onsite construction is wasteful. Factory construction and modular design significantly limits or eliminates waste, saving both the environment and money. This is just one example of the green characteristics of prefab homes. Most green programs actually award additional points for simply using modular construction to build your custom home.
